![]() | A little bit about me: I am a 29-year old professional student! I am now working on finishing my PhD at the University of East Anglia, where I am doing research into the communication of volcanic risk in the Eastern Caribbean. And believe it or not, it’s not always an easy life being a student, and I’m actually quite looking forward to getting a job after this, though doing what is anyone’s guess. Outside of my studies, my main activity is rock climbing. Unfortunately, living in one of the flattest places in the country means that this is mostly confined to plastic walls, but I do try to get up to the Peak District as much as possible on weekends when the weather is nice. Of course, now I have this cycling challenge ahead, many weekends will now be diverted towards training for that. Considering I only usually cycle the 2 miles to university and back, I think LEJOG will require a substantial amount of it, and also some visits to places with hills as I’m sure it won’t all be as flat as Norfolk! I am really looking forward to the challenge, and a challenge it will be, but it will be a great way to honour my dad’s memory and raise (hopefully) a lot of money for a couple of really worthwhile charities. Below are links to my Just Giving pages where it is easy to make a donation. Please give as little or as much as you can afford, as every bit counts. If possible, please spend an extra couple of minutes donating by splitting your donation equally between the two charities, and if you are a UK taxpayer, don’t forget to tick the Gift Aid box, which means tax can be claimed on your donation at no extra cost to you. Thank you, and happy cycling :o) |
For Marie Curie Cancer Care. For The Myfanwy Townsend Melonoma Research Fund.
We would be very grateful if you would spend the time to donate an equal amount to each charity, and for those UK tax payers please don't forget the Gift Aid option.
